ESSENCE OF BELLYDANCE™ Teacher Spotlight Evgenia
"I have this tool with me wherever I go. I don’t need to take anything with me. It’s always there."
Interview from November 3rd 2026.
What if the missing piece in your professional life wasn’t another strategy, another qualification, or another productivity tool — but movement?
For Evgenia Döring, a project manager, business lecturer and certified ESSENCE OF BELLYDANCE™ teacher, discovering this work opened up an entirely new relationship with herself.
Coming from a highly analytical, decision-driven business world, she was used to thinking, planning and taking responsibility. But something was missing: the inner balance and sense of connection she longed for.
She found it through dance.
From the corporate world to the wisdom of the body: Finding the missing piece
Evgenia had always loved dancing. From jazz dance at school to Latin American dance classes, she was naturally drawn to movement. She had even tried bellydance several times, including during pregnancy, knowing how beneficial it could be for the pelvic floor. But something never quite clicked.
In 2020, she discovered Coco’s YouTube videos and started exploring Essence of Bellydance. What began as curiosity quickly became a deeper journey. She wanted to understand not only how to move, but why movement has such a profound effect on the body and mind.
After completing her dance teacher training in 2021, she began teaching alongside her corporate career, exploring the connections between movement, the nervous system, body awareness and the pelvic floor. And eventually, she discovered something important: the very thing she had been searching for in her professional life was already within her reach.
What happens when you bring dance into your everyday life?
For Evgenia, dancing became much more than an enjoyable activity. It became a practical tool for emotional balance, inner stability and mental clarity. She started dancing in the mornings, sometimes for just 10–15 minutes, before her working day began. The effect surprised her.
After challenging meetings, when facing important decisions, or whenever she felt emotionally unsettled, she would turn to movement. What she discovered was a way to reconnect with herself — without needing special equipment, a particular location or even much time. Whether in Germany, Costa Rica or somewhere else in the world, she could always return to that feeling of grounding and inner peace.
Bringing Essence of Bellydance into the business world
One of Evgenia’s most exciting discoveries was that this work has enormous potential for women in leadership positions. After teaching smaller groups of women of different ages and backgrounds, she began offering her approach to women in executive and management positions. And the response was remarkable.
Women who carry significant responsibility in their professional lives were grateful to discover a different way of accessing themselves — one that doesn’t rely on more thinking, analysing or doing. Through Essence of Bellydance, they could experience how movement helps bring the mind back into motion, opening up new perspectives, inner clarity and self-competence. For Evgenia, this is what makes the method so special: it gives women practical tools they can use in their everyday lives, whenever they need them.
From a dream of dancing in Hawaii to a retreat in Costa Rica
Evgenia’s journey also led her to create something very special: her own retreat in the Costa Rican rainforest. During her teacher training, she used to imagine that once she became a certified Essence of Bellydance teacher, she would travel to Hawaii and dance on the beach. She eventually made that dream come true. But it was Costa Rica that truly captured her heart. A chance visit to an ecolodge in the middle of the rainforest became the beginning of a new vision. Surrounded by extraordinary nature, she spontaneously organised a dance workshop for the guests.
The experience stayed with her. She knew she wanted to return and create something of her own. Today, her retreat concept brings together Essence of Bellydance, business perspectives and personal development for women who carry a lot of responsibility: entrepreneurs, executives and female leaders. The idea is to use movement to create space for new thinking, better decisions and a deeper connection with one’s own capabilities.
Some of the unexpected gifts Evgenia discovered:
- Inner balance: finding a sense of calm and emotional stability, even in a demanding professional environment.
- Mental clarity: using movement to access new perspectives and approach important decisions differently.
- Self-competence: having a practical tool to reconnect with herself, wherever she is and whatever life brings.
- Body awareness: discovering the connection between movement, the nervous system and the pelvic floor.
- Authentic self-expression: eallowing herself to experience a much wider spectrum of emotions, energy and expression.
“It’s not about performance. It’s about the feeling from within.”
